Before getting started

What is Acupressure?

It is a simple yet a remarkably effective way of treating common as well as complicated ailments. Acupressure is known as Needleless Acupuncture. ‘ACU’, is the Latin word for ‘needle’ and ‘puncture’ refers to ‘pricking’.

Instead of pricking with needles at the Acupuncture points, rhythmic pressure is applied for one or two minutes to balance the energy flow which cures the disease.

Why Acupressure?

Imagine you are in a building with several floors and the fire alarm starts ringing. What do you do?

a. Ignore the alarm.

b. Take a large hammer and break the alarm

c. Find out the cause of the alarm and take necessary action.

If your answer to the question is 'C', then you need Acupressure.

How does it work?

Scientifically, the exact theory is not yet established but there is enough practical evidence of its effectiveness. The early Chinese theory explains that the root cause of all diseases, in terms of Acupressure, is a disorder of energy vibration. Every cell in the body vibrates at a specific rate and when this vibration of energy goes beyond the normal range, it gives rise to a disease. Acupressure aids in the restoration of correct and harmonious vibration and in this way restores the health.

Is medical knowledge necessary to learn and practice this system?

Extensive medical knowledge is not essential. With a basic knowledge of human anatomy, one can practice this system and provide good relief to themselves and to others.

Do I need formal training?

It is possible to learn Acupressure without attending any training course. But practical experience for body balance techniques (energy balance) and the relaxation techniques is required. Attending a training course can give you the confidence necessary to practice such techniques.

Who can benefit from this?

The young and old, can practice and be benefited. Only feather-touch pressure is recommended for infants and for older people the pressure has to be soothing.

Is it effective against all diseases?

It is very effective for relieving pain in the body like head ache, back-ache, knee pain, etc. In all other diseases, considerable improvement has been noticed. Any ailment without any pathology, can be effectively relieved with acupressure.

Restriction and Precautions?

This therapy should not to be done throughout the day just because it brings relief. Practice it for fifteen minutes in the morning or in the evening. Let the nature inside your body take care of the healing process. It is not recommended during the early and late quarter of pregnancy but can be done under an expert’s guidance. It is not recommended for curing degenerative diseases, for example cancer.

What are the side effects?

The best part of the treatment is that there are no side effects at all. Sometimes in the initial phase, slight discomfort may be observed in a few cases, when the body tries to normalize by rejecting the accumulated toxins from the body. No harm will be done even if a wrong point is activated.

Sometimes, in extreme cases, one may experience 'healing reactions' after the first treatment as the accumulated toxins get released. As the toxins work their way out of the body, there may be symptoms like headache, stiffness, stomach upset or diarrhoea, frequent urination and a lethargic feeling for a day or two. Such symptoms are transitory and the body recovers within a day or two. Trying to suppress these reactions with medications will reverse the healing process.
